Dr. Hurst graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1984. He worked in a small animal practice in Florida for 2 years prior to returning to Springfield.  Dr. Hurst built and established White Oaks West Animal Hospital in 1993. He especially enjoy's his work with cats and dogs, in addition, he has a special interest in exotic and zoo animal medicine.  He has provided medical consultation for the Henson Robinson Zoo since 1987 and for the University of Illinois- Springfield Biology Department.
