Boarding your Pet


Recommendations and Preparations When Boarding Your Pet

 

Help us provide the very best care possible! 

For the first time visitor, be sure to have prior veterinary care information available and proof of vaccinations.

The following vaccines and parasite preventatives are recommended for pets boarding at White Oaks West Animal Hospital:

Dogs

Distemper/Hepatitis/Parvo/Parainfluenza (DHPP), Bordetella (BV), and Rabies (RV) vaccinations must be current.

A negative fecal and heartworm test should have been done within the past year.

Use of a monthly Heartworm preventative and Flea Control (i.e. Frontline Plus) will avoid transmitting or acquiring fleas and other intestinal parasites.

 

Cats

A negative FeLV/FIV combo test should have been done some time in the past history.

Distemper Combo (FVRCP), Leukemia (Felv), and Rabies (RV) vaccinations must be current.

A negative fecal exam should have been done within the past year.

Use of a monthly Flea control product (i.e. Frontline Plus) will avoid transmitting or acquiring fleas.

Diet

 

White Oaks West Animal Hospital offers our dog and cat visitors Science Diet Adult Maintenance dry pet food unless an alternative diet is provided. If your pet has a sensitive stomach or has special dietary needs, please bring your pet’s food from home to avoid GI upset.

 

Ensure you bring enough food, treats, medications, bedding, toys, etc for the time you will be away.

 

Special Needs

 

If your pet has any special needs, (i.e. dietary, medications, supplements) please bring detailed written instructions and/or dosing instructions.

 

If your pet needs a problem monitored or treated while you are away, please notify us of the condition.

 

Please bring any of your pet's comforts from home. It is recommended to place ID tags on each of your pets and any belongings.

 

Please label any transport carrier you may bring for your pet.

 

Prior to your departure, please leave your contact information (phone &/or email) in case a problem should occur.

 

If you can not be contacted while away, be sure to provide the name and phone number of someone who will be able to make decisions on your behalf.
